Masters Professional Degree in Peace and Conflict Studies
University of Ibadan
Nigeria
Target Beneficiaries
The need for peacemaking and peacebuilding in any society cannot be over emphasised. These should make the proposed course very attractive to students of differing societal backgrounds and nationalities. Within Nigeria, the course should prepare students appropriately for careers in security services, civil service, and in business and other organisations subject to rapid change. The course will also benefit elected political leaders in terms of possible short term courses.
Outside the country, it should assist students in gaining access to careers in the United Nations (UN), Organisation of African Unity (OAU), Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), multinational companies, non governmental organisations (NGO's) and research institutes interested in the African peace processes.
For those already embarked on their careers, it will provide relevant professional and human development prospects for those engaged in the security services, internal and external public service, business, NGO's, the UH and other international agencies, clergy, trade unionists, members of community development associations, etc.
