This project
developed work begun in INCORE into the topic of
Researching Violent Societies. Following two major workshops in
Northern Ireland, this project took the debate to Africa and with
African collaborators hosted a workshop for indigenous researchers
on the theme Researching Ethnic Conflict. The objectives were to stimulate
an inclusive debate where local researchers could consider some of
the issues looked at in the earlier workshop but where the debate
was on ethnic conflict research in Africa.
In late 2005, a book will be published, with contributions from researchers and practitioners, examining and outlining the isues involved in conflict research in the African context. Published by UNU Press, 'Researching Conflict in Africa - Insights and Experiences' was edited by INCORE Research Director Dr. Elisabeth Porter, INCORE Director Gillian Robinson, Albrecht Schnabel, Marie Smyth and Eghosa Osaghae.
