Challenging Racism: Successful Strategies from the Republic of Ireland: 18th January 2005
This was an opportunity for minority ethnic groups and other interested parties
to hear about a number of successful strategies adopted by the National
Consultative Committee on Racism and Interculturalism (NCCRI) to combat racism in the Republic of
Ireland.
The National Consultative Committee on Racism and Interculturalism (NCCRI) was established in 1998 as an independent expert body focusing on racism and interculturalism. The NCCRI is a partnership body which brings together government and non-government organisations to develop an inclusive and strategic approach to combat racism.
Philip Watt, Director, Anna Visser, Research & Policy and Kensika Monshengwo, Training & Resources represented NCCRI and gave a presentation on the role and work of NCCRI, including details of NCCRI's north/south strategies to address racism and their anti-racism training programmes. Despite adverse weather conditions, the seminar was well-attended with a wide range of participants from community groups and academia present.
