INCORE/NWSF host successful Interface Forum
On
Wednesday 7th April the North West Social Forum (NWSF) and INCORE
hosted an Interface Forum at the Verbal Arts Centre in Derry/Londonderry.
The aim of the Forum was to initiate a process of dialogue between
people directly affected by violence in the city and involve other
concerned agencies/groups who wish to work in partnership towards
peaceful co-existence at interface areas.
Guest speakers included representatives from local and Belfast-based
community groups who have found interface solutions that work. Such
speakers included Chris O' Halloran from Belfast Interface Project,
Brian Dougherty from Tullyally District Development Group, and Michael
Doherty from Peace and Reconciliation Group, Derry/Londonderry.
We also had the opportunity to hear the 'Young Person's Perspective'
on interface issues, from two local young people who live on interface
areas.
The evening was a tremendous success, very informative and worthwhile.
There were over 50 attendees, including community workers, councillors,
local residents - both sections of the community were well-represented.
